A publicist says Burt Bacharach is postponing several concerts as he recovers from back surgery.

Dozoretz says Bacharach’s prognosis is excellent, but he will need to postpone scheduled concerts through mid-March.

Publicist Linda Dozoretz says the 81-year-old singer is recovering at a hospital after the New Year’s Eve surgery.

CBS morning host Rodriguez expecting second child

Maggie Rodriguez of CBS’ “The Early Show” is expecting her second child.

Rodriguez has a 4-year-old daughter, Daniella. Her husband, Michael Rodriguez, is a marketing executive at the Telemundo television network.

She announced her pregnancy on Monday’s show. Rodriguez said to co-host Harry Smith, weather forecaster Dave Price and newsman Russ Mitchell: “You guys are going to be uncles!”

Rap producer Shawty Redd charged with murder

Music producer Demetrius Lee Stewart, known as Shawty Redd, is being held in a suburban Atlanta jail on a murder charge.

Stewart is accused of shooting 35-year-old Damon A. Martin of Detroit in an argument at Stewart’s home in Hampton, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.

Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton says Stewart was arrested Friday morning.

Japan’s emperor greets New Year crowds

Tens of thousands of cheering Japanese gathered in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Saturday to hear Emperor Akihito pray for the nations happiness and world peace in his traditional New Year address.

“Marking the beginning of this year, I wish people happiness and the world peace,” Akihito said as crowds shouted “Banzai” (long live) and waved Japanese flags.

Kathy Griffin makes another vulgar quip on CNN

For the second straight year, comedian Kathy Griffin ushered in the new year by saying something vulgar on CNN.

Cooper hung his head, shook it and said “You’re terrible,” before resuming his banter.

During the network’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast from Times Square, Griffin was joking with co-host Anderson Cooper about how to pronounce the first name of “balloon boy” Falcon Heene when she mumbled something that sounded a little like “Falcon” and a lot like the F-word.

Police: Bank rob suspect was on ‘Deadliest Catch’

Police say a man who appeared in the Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch” is wanted for three bank robberies in Oregon and has been arrested in Illinois.

Police in Eugene, Ore., say he is the same Josh Warner who appeared as a greenhorn deckhand on the king crab fishing boat Wizard in the “Deadliest Catch” earlier this year.
