Small, private funeral held for Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy’s family and friends celebrated her life at a private Christmas Eve funeral.

Her husband, Simon Monjack, also spoke. Murphy and Monjack were married in 2007.

The 32-year-old actress was buried Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. The intimate gathering was “very nice, very respectful,” said longtime family friend Alex Ben Block, who eulogized Murphy.

Three days after Brittany Murphy passed out in her bathroom and later died, DVD rental chain Redbox said on Wednesday it was pulling a poster depicting the actress posing lifeless in a bathtub.

The company said it started removing the artwork following the death of the 32-year-old actress on Sunday, and planned to complete the job by January 1.

Coroner’s officials are looking into how the celebrity Web site TMZ obtained details on prescription drugs contained in an investigator’s report on the death of Brittany Murphy.

An autopsy on the body of actress Brittany Murphy was completed on Monday, but authorities said the exact cause of death will not be known until toxicology tests are finished in four to six weeks.

Murphy, who co-starred in the movie “Clueless” and “8 Mile,” suffered cardiac arrest on Sunday in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home.
