Charlie Sheen seeks to resume contact with wife

Actor Charlie Sheen asked a Colorado court on Wednesday to lift an order that has required him to stay away from his wife, amid reports that the couple hope to reconcile after his Christmas Day domestic violence arrest.

A hearing is set for Monday, according to the prosecutor overseeing the case in the ski resort of Aspen.

Charlie Sheen has been arrested in the Colorado resort town of Aspen on charges related to an alleged case of domestic violence.

Police say the alleged victim didn’t have to be taken to the hospital. That person’s name was not released.

Aspen police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro says Sheen was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

In a case that has polarized public passions, director Roman Polanski did not win his freedom Monday for a 32-year-old sex offense, but an appeals court said in a strongly worded opinion there was probable judicial and prosecutorial misconduct in his case.

Polanski wears an electronic monitoring device while under house arrest in Switzerland, where he was arrested as a fugitive when he arrived to attend a film festival in September.

A California appeals court has rejected Roman Polanski’s bid to have his sex case dismissed.

“We encourage all participating parties to do their utmost to ensure that this matter now draws to a close in a manner that fully addresses the issues of due process and fundamental fairness raised by the events of long ago,” the court’s opinion stated.

Lil Wayne to be sentenced in February

Lil Wayne heads to court in February for sentencing in his New York gun case, just days after his next album comes out.

He pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. The charge stemmed from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. His plea deal calls for a year in jail.

The rap star’s sentencing date is Feb.

Philadelphia Newspapers asks court for cash sale

Creditors of bankrupt Philadelphia Newspapers LLC should not be allowed to use their secured debt in a bid for the company because that would discourage cash bidders, an attorney for the company told an appeals court on Tuesday.

The company has sought to have all bids made in cash.

Londons City of Westminster magistrates court was told that Kowalczyk said “gotcha” as he landed the punch.
