Verizon Wireless seeks U.S. court judgment on ads

Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon and Vodafone Group PLC, asked a U.S. court for a judgment that its advertising claims to be “Americas Most Reliable 3G Network” were truthful, which rival AT&T called “misleading” on Monday.

AT&T, which has its principal business in Atlanta, had filed the challenge with the National Advertising Division of the Council for Better Business Bureaus.

Murray was with Jackson when he died June 25 and has been identified in court papers as the subject of a manslaughter investigation.

Time Warner buys Google’s stake in AOL for $283 million

Time Warner Inc paid 283 million for Google Incs 5 percent stake in AOL, the Internet company said in a U.S. regulatory filing on Monday.

The price that the company paid for Googles stake implies that AOL has a total value of about 5.7 billion.

Time Warner, which plans to spin off AOL by the end of the year, bought the stake from Google on July 8, AOL said in the filing with the U.

NFL reinstates disgraced QB Vick

Disgraced quarterback Michael Vick, who missed two National Football League seasons while serving a jail sentence for running a dog-fighting ring, was reinstated by the league on Monday.

The 29-year-old is able to sign with a new team and can play in preseason games.

The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback will not be allowed to take part in regular season games until the sixth week of the season at the earliest.

The major music labels are planning a new digital album format that will debut with a tablet-like personal computer from Apple Inc in September, people familiar with the plans said on Monday.

The music industry first proposed the idea of an enhanced album format to Apple in 2007, according to two people who said the labels have been separately working on a project code-named “CMX”.

London’s ‘Too Close to the Sun’ Will Shutter
