Pirate Bay fileshare four jailed for a year

Four men linked to The Pirate Bay, one of the worlds biggest free file-sharing websites, were each jailed for a year on Friday for breaching copyright and ordered to pay 30 million Swedish crowns (3.58 million) in compensation.

International trade body IFPI reported earlier this year that about 95 percent of music downloaded in 2008 was illegal.

Prosecution Set for Trial in Travolta Extortion Case

As John Travolta and Kelly Preston have been piecing their lives back together since the untimely death of their son, Jett, Bahamian prosecutors have been busily piecing together a case against the duo accused of trying to profit from their loss.

Travolta was named as a witness earlier in the investigation, but no word yet on whether hell take the stand during the trial.

Antwon Tanner of `One Tree Hill’ faces NYC charges

“One Tree Hill” actor Antwon Tanner has pleaded not guilty to involvement in a Social Security scheme.

Tanner and his lawyer declined to comment.

Tanner appeared in federal court in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Thursday on charges of selling Social Security numbers and cards. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

Rocker Mellencamp’s son wins Indiana Golden Gloves

The 14-year-old son of rock singer John Mellencamp has won a division title in the Indiana Golden Gloves boxing tournament.

Nine other open-division winners will represent Indiana in the national Golden Gloves tournament May 4-10 in Salt Lake City.

Hud Mellencamp, who boxes for the Indy Police Athletic League, earned a 4-1 decision over Cody Bennett of the Southpaw Boxing Club of Owensboro, Ky.

Castroneves jury deliberates on more tax counts

Jurors in Miami continue deliberating in the tax evasion trial of Brazilian race car driver Helio Castroneves and his two co-defendants.

Castroneves is charged with conspiring with his sister and lawyer to evade more than $2.3 million in U.S. income taxes. All three face more than six years in prison if convicted of conspiracy and tax evasion between 1999 and 2004.

Chinese piano wizard Lang Lang says he brings music back to life. And if sponsorships help his reincarnations reach a younger, hipper audience, hes for them.

“Every time you play a piece its like you bring a life, a new life, and when the last note finishes its disappeared.”
